Software Engineer

RMI Laser, LLC. seeks a Software Engineer who researches, develops, and maintains software systems for customer facing as well as internal use application.  

The ideal candidate will be a high energy, detail-oriented self-starter who enjoys learning on the job and making valuable contributions to our small, cross-functional technology team of scientists and engineers. A total Rock Star.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should 2 have expert knowledge of C/C++, The .NET family of Languages; specifically C# and VB.NET, ASP.NET, SQL, Revision Control Software (GIT and/or SVN), and functional knowledge of Python, Java, Javascript, CSS, ActiveX, OLE, and BASH / Shell scripting. Additional Languages are always a plus.

Job Duties:

  • Analyze software requirements to determined feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • Develop new software to fulfill customer requirements.
  • Maintain and support existing applications, both internal and customer facing. This requires customer interaction as well as interaction with RMI Laser Employees for internal software requirements.
  • Confers with hardware and software engineers to determine needs and formulate software based solutions.

Required Qualifications:

B.S. in Computer Science or related field. 5-10 years would be best.

U.S. citizen or permanent resident

Other Desired Skills and Abilities Knowledge:

  • Vision Systems and machine learning are desired Knowledge of LATEX.
  • FPGA knowledge and experience.

Laser Assembler/Technician

RMI Laser, LLC is seeking a dexterous, upbeat personality to join our production team. We are looking for a Laser Assembler/Technician as part of our production team to assemble, adjust, align and test laser marking systems.

Duties include:

  • Performing optical, mechanical, and electro-mechanical assembly, following work instructions.
  • Cleaning and preparing optical components for assembly. This may include cleaning, inspecting, and sub-assembling them.
  • Aligning optics to create output to customer specs.
  • Coordinating production scheduling with Materials and Project management.

Basic knowledge of RS-232 and USB ports desired. Candidate must have basic soldering skills, able to read instrument output (power meters, laser controllers and others) and be able to work with microscopes and eyepieces. Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail are essential.

Individual must have at least 1 year post-secondary education and experience in electro-mechanical and cable assembly. Associate’s degree in a technical field is a plus.

Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Experience with laser or laser marking systems a plus but not required. Candidates with supervisory skills or aptitude are desired. This is a full time position with benefits after 90 days employment.

Laser Cable Assembler

RMI Laser, LLC. seeks a hands-on candidate who can easily route and tie wires to form wire harness (cables) used in electronic equipment and laser systems.

Desired Job Skills:

  • Able to read instructions such as work orders, diagrams, and wire lists to determine materials needed and sequence of assembly.
  • Select wires of specified color, marking, or length, and loops wires between guide pegs on harness board, following color-coded lines or sequential numbers on board or diagram.
  • Wrap and tie wires together at designated points to form harness.
  • Solders cables as necessary.
  • Attach ends of wires to components, plugs, or terminal strip.
  • Insert cable in plastic tubing or injects plastic sealant around terminals to protect cable from dust and moisture.
  • Test wiring continuity with continuity tester.
  • Mark identifying data on completed harness.


  • 2-3 years previous experience with hands-on cable assembly.
  • Ability to read and identify board layouts.
  • Experience with soldering iron.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
